Sacrum Taps and Memento Mori

A way to care for your body and reminder that you will die (could this help you to live more fully now?)

It’s been a while since I shared something simple.

The reminder that death is in our future is simple.

Some call that memento mori.

Some say, reminding yourself of this, can help you to live.

Live how?

Live more fully?

Live in a way where you hold less back?

Live so that your death bed isn’t laden with regret?

Live in a way where love helps you to open up to as much pleasure and joy as the pain and sorrow our world promises?

Mmmm maybe this isn’t simple, but the exercise I want to remind you of- in the video above- is!

The video demonstrates sacrum and facial tapping- I made it for my self-guided mourning ritual, but maybe it’s helpful to you now? The video above may be helpful is what I mean, but also if you’re experiencing a great grief you may want to know about the self-guided ritual.

It can help to do a somatic and down-regulating exercise like tapping when you’re contemplating death.

Death is the one true certainty in life.

Of late I’ve been humbled and certain of very little. Things have been hard, both personally and collectively. Fur companion illness scare while I was away-unable to help, familial inheritances wreaking havoc… and of course world events continue to break my heart. Genocides and many harmful acts, inequality reigning on each continent. AND- after returning to my garden after weeks away passionfruit is falling off the vine, tomatoes ripen each day, jalapeños abound, my furlove’s health improves, and I-saw-an-absurdist-one-woman-show-where-an-alien-clown-helped-people-with-their-problems-in-the-sweetest-and-strangest-of-ways-that-has-made-me-want-to-come-out-of-retirement-and-PERFORM-again… am I getting better at surfing the ups and downs… doesn’t feel like it today AND I’m okay with not being okay AND I’m okay with the confusing juxtaposition of the sweet and bitter parts of life giving me emotional whiplash.

How are you?

Let me know, if you’re up for sharing.

So yea, I’ve been tapping my sacrum and I’ve forgotten to tap my face, maybe that’s why I’m sharing this tapping video with you all, to remind me to reach for my tools. What tools do you need to reach for today?

Happy tapping? Memento Mori. Life! Wherever you are please know I’m tapping my root on the ground to vibrate other roots and those vibrations could eventually end up under your foot and perhaps I’ll feel your sacrum tap in my right fourth toe one of these days too?

Video Credits: Soundscape by FayePatrick Kennedy (Animal Translator & Death Doula as well as Vocal Sonic Medium & Healing Artist). Lighting by the sun’s descent behind the horizon mixed with oceanic mist. My lovely mother Denise Rohdin helped me to film this on my documentary’s DSLR and many many many people have tapped their sacrums and faces before, so many so that no one knows who started it thus everyone gets credit for inventing these tools from now back to the beginning of time, thanks stardust!

p.s. I’ll start sharing more body scans and yoga nidra’s soon.
