We are well within the Fall portal*: a time of harvest and a time of letting go. If you look outside you may notice leaves falling and the ground cooling. Plants are “dying” back, bringing their life force into their stems/trunks, and down into their roots in preparation for winter.
Many have found that when the season is releasing, it’s easier for our bodies to follow suit, to be inspired by what’s happening around us, to release and slow down, just as the plants and trees are.
The fall can be a supportive time to process grief that you may not have had time to tend to during the busy spring and summer cycles… and the grief backlog of our society is sorrowfully large- due to all the “natural” disasters, wars, and genocide going on right now. Thus it’s also a community service to dedicate some time to grieving if you have the capacity.
Speaking of capacity, the video above is all about how to get support, and grow your capacity for processing grief. Give it a watch and let me know if any questions arise as you try out co-regulation with nature.
I’ll be sharing a mourning support video or audio each week for the rest of our fall portal- for paid subscribers, if you’d like to go on this release journey with me, you can opt into a paid subscription for the rest of this season - and if money is a barrier - email me and I’ll gift you a paid subscription for the rest of this year.

I originally made this video as a bonus resource for my self-guided mourning ritual bundle. Check it out if you’re in need of support processing acute or lingering grief about the death transition of a loved one (human or companion animal), ecological grief, or the death of a circumstance (i.e. relationship, job, home).
Mourning singer FayePatrick Kennedy created the score for this video.
*This Fall Portal is still true for me in October because I live in a subtropical region in the northern hemisphere, if you’re closer to the equator you’re more likely in the dry season portal, if you’re in the southern hemisphere- you’re deep in the spring portal. Even though you may not be entering fall with me, in truth, it’s always a good time to grieve, because as I said above, our society’s grief backlog needs tending, needs processing, thank you for your service.
